Abstract

The advent of telehealth has significantly transformed the healthcare landscape by revolutionizing the delivery of specialty care services. This paper explores the role of telehealth in enhancing access to specialty care, particularly for underserved populations. Telehealth, which encompasses a variety of technologies including video conferencing, mobile health apps, and electronic health records, has become a crucial tool in bridging the gap between patients and specialists. By removing geographical barriers and reducing the need for in-person visits, telehealth has made it possible for individuals to receive timely and high-quality care, regardless of their location. This study examines the various aspects of telehealth's impact on access to specialty care, including its effect on patient satisfaction, the reduction of travel-related costs, and the potential for improved health outcomes. The findings suggest that telehealth not only expands access to specialty services but also contributes to a more efficient and cost-effective healthcare system.
